QUESTION AND ANSWER SEGMENT  (PART 1)

Question 1

How can I reduce my expenses and maximize my profit since the bulk of the expenses is feedings, is there a way to reduce the expense on feeding? Because someone said if I want my fish to be 1kg I need to feed it with 1.1-1.2kg of feed.......so if I have 1,000 fish then the total kg will be 1,100-1,200kg of feed.....making it about 74-80bags of 25kg feed.....
If I do the maths, it is about ₦616,000 just for feed in 6 months.
If I sell the 1,000kg @ ₦800,000
Profit will be ₦800,000-₦616,000 = ₦184,000......

D
ear SDE reader, you need to follow me attentively if you don’t already know that Aquarium Business is a real money-spinner. Having built over 800 aquariums and renovated the ones in about 1500 homes between 1987-1991, I should be in a pole position to tell you how lucrative this exotic business is. Don’t you think so?
An aquarium is a glass container used for keeping fish (especially the ornamental varieties).
·        The keeping of ornamental fish is a hobby with worldwide interest (ranking after the world’s No. 1 hobby – PHOTOGRAPHY).

·        Global retail sales of Fish, Plants and Associated Accessories for the hobby were valued at US$17.2 billion as at 2006.
·        14 percent of the estimated 21 million British homes and 8 percent of the 86 million homes in United States of America (USA) keep Ornamental fish.
·        For every 100 inhabitants of West Germany (1988) were 98 fish. Distribution was through 5000 Specialist Pet Shops.

·        There are 15.2 fish to every 100 inhabitants of France with about 3,500 outlets.
·        Italy has about 3000 Specialist Shops with 600 of them solely for aquariums.
·        There are some 2500 Specialist Pet shops in Belgium too with a population of 35.7 fish to every 100 inhabitants.
·        In Africa, fish keeping in aquariums is mostly popular in South Africa with NIGERIA TRAILING FAR BEHIND.
·        Although quite a number of people in Nigeria (living in the cities), even if they have never kept fish before, chances are that they will know someone who has or do keep an aquarium.
·        There is a chronic shortage of educated personnel in this sector, with less than 30 aquarium shops dotting the major cities in Nigeria, with Lagos, Ibadan, Port-Harcourt and Abuja taking the lead in that order.

·        Of these numbers, only four (4) of them can be listed as ‘serious’, even at that we are yet to have a single shop in the country that can be referred to as a ‘standard aquarium shop’.
APART from the absence of a curriculum dedicated to the study of aquarium education, the understanding of the concept of aquarium keeping is lacking, together with marketing difficulties, little promotion and no advertising have all hampered the development of this sector......This is what Mr. Fish is set to address at the upcoming seminar at SADC, having rubbed minds with the best hands and the biggest companies in the aquarium world at a recent world conference in Singapore. See pics below.
At this seminar you will learn 10 critical steps necessary to make you succeed in the aquarium construction business. Below are a few tips:
  •  How to select THE RIGHT GLASS THICKNESS to prevent an ‘explosion’ of the Aquarium glass that can impact the living room like a Tsunami!
  •   Using THE RIGHT SILICONE SEALANT- this is important because most of the silicone in the market is impregnated with anti-fungus that can kill all your fish in 2 weeks!
  •   THE COMMON ANTI-LEAK CLEANER you will need to use to prevent your aquarium from leaking.
  •   THE BEST KIND OF ‘GRAVEL’ FOR SETTING up the base of the aquarium – to prevent fish death!
  •   What to do to minimize regular change of aquarium water FILTRATION.
  •    ACCESS TO LIVE AQUATIC PLANTS to make it easy for your fish to breed in the tank. Aquascape architecture!

Having built over 800 aquariums and renovated the ones in about 1500 homes between 1987-1991. This trend was scarified or ‘suspended’ for 20 years to facilitate and catalyze the CATFISH REVOLUTION.
Now Mr. Fish is back with a bang to bring you on board to partake in the millions waiting to be tapped in the world of AQUARIOLOGY!
